How to Navigate Airline Customer Service in Difficult SituationsConde Nast Daily Traveler
There was a story about a woman who missed her brother’s funeral because of a bunch of airline problems. That prompted me to write a post for about how to avoid those kind of situations if you find yourself in something similar. The original post was tough to read since it didn’t have to end the way it did.

A phone call last week got me thinking about the best ways to get the business involved in charity.

How to Prepare for Tomorrow’s Possible Lufthansa StrikeConde Nast Daily Traveler
A bonus post this week about the pending Lufthansa strike. This one was pretty tough because nobody knew when it would happen or what flights would be affected except for the union. The union didn’t talk until 6 hours prior.

Slide shows are usually kind of boring, so I decided to take the pics LAN sent of their new 787 and have a little fun with it.

      1. They were 787 photos. I was so busy fighting LAN yesterday that I forgot to add to the post. It’s in there now.

          1. I wouldn’t go that far. There was an issue with being invited on the 787 delivery flight and then having invite rescinded but that was the airline’s US PR group (Edelman) and not the airline itself. I hold nothing against LAN for that.

The issue yesterday was a complete mess and I absolutely hold LAN responsible for that horrible customer service performance.

The slideshow here was written days before that happened. And it was just a joking way to look at the different images that LAN sent around. It’s boring to just post pics when it’s the same pics everyone else gets. Might as well throw some snark in there and have fun.

          2. I agree, Nick. It’s not often that I have one interaction with LAN in a month, let alone this many all at once!

  1. Charitable can be simple if you want to do something. Offer your travel service free to a local school, church or Senior center/group.

    1. David – I think it’s a good idea to do it that way, but it becomes a matter of finding the right organization. I would naturally just like to find something in Long Beach, but I would like to find something that’s meaningful for everyone else who works here too. That may be impossible but I’d like to try to have it be meaningful to everyone.

    1. Dan – I decided not to bother anymore, for the most part. It got to a point where they were so understaffed on the editorial side that they didn’t have the resource to work on regular stories. Instead, they said to just pitch them when I had a good idea. That hasn’t worked out very well so it has sort of faded. Though I could technically pitch them now and still have something go live, I find myself too busy at this point.
