I hope you’ve all marked your calendars for the Crankyspotting Dorkfest on September 28 here in Southern California. As a reminder, during the day we’ll meet up at In ‘n Out by LAX for some burgers and spotting. That night, you’ll have the chance to dine on a Pan Am 747. I didn’t have details when I first posted about this, but now I do. So read on…

As a reminder, Anthony Toth has built an incredibly accurate mock-up of a Pan Am 747 in a warehouse east of downtown LA. I’m putting together an evening of drinks and dinner onboard for 28 lucky people who will get to dine and drink as they would have back on Pan Am during its heyday.

First Class – 14 people will be able to pay $150 each for a First Class experience. You will board the aircraft and take your First Class seat in the nose of the 747. There you will enjoy drinks and soak in the surroundings. When it’s time for dinner, you will be escorted by your flight crew (all original Pan Am stewardesses) to the upper deck dining room where you will enjoy your meal.

Clipper Class – Another 14 people will be able to pay $100 each for a Clipper Class experience. You will board the aircraft and take your Clipper Class seat just behind the nose section in the 747. This version of Clipper Class was little more than a premium economy-style section, but you will only be there for drinks. After the First Class passengers are escorted upstairs to dine, you will be escorted into the First Class cabin for your meal.

All meals will be the same, and you will be able to choose your main course when you sign up.

Those 28 tickets will go on sale next Friday, July 12, at 9am Pacific Time at crankyflier.com/cranky747.

This is first-come, first-served with no special preferences for anyone. Payment is via Paypal, but you don’t need a Paypal account to pay – you can just use a credit card during the process.
