Some New Flights

AirTran, JetBlue, Schedule Changes, US Airways

Here is a rundown of some of the new flights announced in the last week or so. There’s nothing earth shattering here this week.

  • JetBlue received government approval to start flying New York/JFK – Cancun, so they announced flights right away. Flights operate daily on A320s starting Nov 30.
  • AirTran is picking up some sun routes as the winter approaches with new Chicago/Midway flights. Starting Feb 7, the airline will run single daily flights between Midway and both Miami and West Palm Beach.
  • US Airways has good news for Charlotte but bad news for Pittsburgh. The airline will end its flights between Pittsburgh and White Plains (New York) on Dec 1. In its place, US Airways will add three daily flights between White Plains and Charlotte on Dec 3. Those will all be on 50 seat CRJs.
  • Apparently betting on a big benefit from its SkyTeam linkup with Air France, Continental will launch summer-only nonstop flights between Cleveland and Paris/Charles de Gaulle. Don’t get too excited, they won’t start until the summer of 2008. (So why announce it now?)
