It’s been a long time since I first announced that Cranky Dorkfest will be on Saturday, September 14, so this seemed like a great time to remind everyone…
Cranky Dorkfest 2024 will be on Saturday, September 14
As always, the main event will be from 11am to 1pm at the park across from the In-N-Out (details below), but this year, I’m happy to say that LAX is bringing back the Flight Path ramp visit from 9am to 11am. Even better? There is NO hard cap of 50 people as there was last year! What was it like? It was glorious:
LAX has asked that I get people signed up as soon as possible so they can properly prepare for the right number of people. So, fill out this form if you’d like to attend or scroll to the bottom of this post where the form is embedded.
While I don’t have a hard cap, I will have to reserve the right to cap it if LAX tells me that they’ve hit a limit. Also, there is a cap on the number of cars that can park, so make sure to say if you will bring a car, because we will have permits.
And then, for the main event, there is no RSVP required. But here are the details:
- What: Cranky Dorkfest 2024
- When: Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 11am to 1pm PT
- Where: The park across from the In-N-Out at LAX
- Who: All are welcome, and there is no cost
- Why: Because you like watching airplanes and talking shop with fellow airline dorks… also, burgers
Weʻve again teamed up with NYC Aviation to make sure we’re lined up with the SpotLAX event so that you’ll have opportunities to hang out all weekend long.
Again, if you are coming to the Flight Path ramp visit, please RSVP as soon as possible below.

Is there an age limit for the ramp visit?
No age limit!
Woohoo! Thanks!
Thanks for helping with this, Cranky. I’m very excited about the possible ramp visit, and flights from the opposite corner of the country to LAX are insanely cheap.
Will official Cranky Dorkfest shirts be sold in advance of the event again, or only at the event itself?
Hmm, I hadn’t even thought about the t-shirt yet. Not sure if I’ll have time to put one together this year, but I will think about that. Feel free to yell at me in two weeks if you haven’t heard anything.
Cranky, where would the meeting point be for the ramp visit? Would it be possible to make it if a person were to land at LAX between 8:40 and 8:45a?
Ben – It’s at the Flight Path museum on the south side of the airport. You shouldn’t have to get there right at 9, so go ahead and sign up
Just signed up for the ramp visit. So excited, can’t wait.
Leaving the museum to In-N-Out, where would the best place for parking be?
Rebecca – Parking at In-N-Out? There is street parking all around the area, but also The Parking Spot is right there on Sepulveda.
Going to Cranky Dorkfest for the first time! Just signed up for the ramp tour! Very much looking forward to attending this year!
Thanks for this opportunity!
