Bishop, CA is an exciting destination? Also, it’s just down 395 from MMH. Did United pull service from MMH for Bishop?
I think the Eastern Sierras are a great and interesting place, but I’m surprised that made the list.
Southbay – Yep, this is replacing MMH service because it was so unreliable. Ultimately, we have to pick and choose from the brand new destinations that get announced in any given year. This was definitely one that was different and caught our eye.
Comayagua (XPL) is the new international airport serving Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras. All international airlines that used to fly to TGU have now moved to XPL, including American and United. While XPL is much closer to Comayagua, Spirit brands its service as Tegucigalpa (quite appropriately). So what makes XPL an exciting new destination? Is it that Spirit went in a little before TGU was closed to international flights? Or is there something about the new airport that makes Spirit flights possible in a way that would not have worked at TGU?
Ron – They were just the first to go, so it was a brand new destination for any airline from the US/Canada.
