Good call on the San Francisco caveat–though there’s a caveat to the caveat (which you may well know and had to compress for space). Before 9 am or so, the airport is within capacity for single-runway operation. It’s after that that the fog can start to pin things in, when the number of scheduled arrivals exceeds 30 per hour.

Good article, and that is a great point about San Francisco and the fog, I have only driven there, never flown, but I have many friends who have encountered frequent delays due to the fog. I heard O’Hare is one of the worst airports to deal with, especially if you’re just connecting, but I haven’t been there yet so I can’t speak from personal experience. I don’t usually have troubles with LAX (knock on wood).
