Brett, if we were to learn anything from this most recent shutdown, it would be that these government workers and the traveling public should never again be used as ‘pawns’ in a political dispute.
I wish we would simply properly fund, invest, hire, train, and support air traffic controllers, TSA agents, CBP agents (at passport controls), etc., so that our critical aviation sector is never at-risk like during this and prior shutdowns.
If we had actual adults in-the-room who truly served their constituents, not merely the bidding of well-funded special interests, they’d draft bi-partisan legislation to ensure this does not happen again.
Unless we solve this soon, it’s likely to happen again, perhaps, by February 2026, once this current CR ends. Yikes.
