Cranky Dorkfest is less than a month away on September 13 (full details here), and I have two updates for you:
1) The Importance of Your RSVP
Did you RSVP yet to attend Cranky Dorkfest? If so, you aren’t alone. There are currently 620 names on the list, which is pretty great.
Unfortunately, the morning LAX ramp visit has a cap of 500 people, so we have had to turn that into a waitlist. If you signed up and it said nothing about a waitlist, then you are good to go. If it said you were on a waitlist when you signed up, we will do our best to clear your name.
If you’ve RSVPd for the LAX ramp tour and are no longer coming, PLEASE email us at cf@crankyflier.com.
When you tell us you’re not coming, it opens up a spot from the waitlist. Besides, if you no-show, you will lose the full value of your ticket. (Yes, I know it’s $0, but we want to pretend we’re an airline.)
REMINDER: There is no limit on the number of people for the main event at the park across from In-N-Out, but if you want to have a chance at winning one of the giveaway items you have to RSVP in advance.
2) T-Shirts are Back!
Several of you asked if there would be t-shirts again this year, and I had said no. I just didnʻt want to deal with the hassle. But guess what? Plane Apparel Co. has stepped up to create and sell a shirt which I have now deemed the official shirt of Cranky Dorkfest 2025.

Like it? You have the LAX runways on the front with the iconic LAX sign on the back. If you donʻt like the color, donʻt sweat it. There are five colors for adults plus five for kids.
These wonʻt be sold at the event, so make sure to order yours now.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on September 13. (Full details here)

Darn it. I won’t be able to make it, but now I want a Cranky Dorkfest 2017 shirt!
Is there a way to confirm I RSVPd?
I filled the form out first week of August but didn’t get a confirmation?
Kq747 – You are all set, I believe an email was sent to you this morning
Hi, Brent. I’m mostly a one-and-done guy when it comes to extraordinary events (and Cranky Dorkfest absolutely qualifies), so having attended a couple of years ago (it was wonderful) let me just wish everyone well and hope the event is a lot of fun.
How about an East Coast Dorkfest at IAD? Could include a visit to the Udvar-Hazy Museum and maybe get MWAA to arrange for some rides in the Mobile Lounges. We don’t have an In and Out Burger but there is a Shake Shack at the museum and a Chick-Fil-A across the street from the museum. If the planes are landing to the north, all of these are under the flight path for 1R.
OriginalPatsFan – It’s been discussed. I did one in DFW a few years back when I was in town already. The problem is that organizing out of town is a real pain. Maybe I need to find someone to license this to!
I volunteer with Traveler’s Aid at IAD and Traveler’s Aid is HQed in Washington. Maybe there is someone with them who might be interested in partnering with you to do it. Are you interested?
OriginalPatsFan – Not really a question for me. If someone wants to possibly license it and put together an event, they can always reach out.
This was not from acct. I do not have a account with this company, so please get off my page. Thank you
