You didn’t think last week’s post about the Southwest holiday trouble would be the only one, did you? There’s a lot to catch up on, so Dave and I devoted this week’s Cranky Talk to talking more about what happened. Dave even flew Southwest over the holidays…. but he had nothing useful to share about that.
See, Dave got lucky and booked his trip to leave on the day that Southwest got back to normal. Many others were obviously not quite so lucky, but then again, they now have 25,000 Rapid Rewards points for free and Dave does not.
Email Dave here to tell him how glad you are he avoided all the terribleness.

You mentioned the fog in San Diego as an issue. It was also an issue in TIJ, one which caused Volaris to cancel most if not all flights from TIJ on 12/24 and 12/25. We flew on VivaAerobus from TIJ-CUN on 12/26 and the line to check in with Volaris post CBX was 5-6 hours long, with only 4 agents. (Viva and Aero Mexico had no lines). People had slept where-ever they could post security, and most restaurants were out of non-packaged food. Volaris planes were at all the jetway gates, which caused our flight, which came in from MEX, to be delayed because they had to find a parking spot for it. We finally got out an hour late.
