Podcast, The Cranky Flier Interview, United

It’s time for another episode of The Cranky Flier Interview.

Patrick Quayle, VP of International Network and Alliances for United Airlines sat down with me to talk shop. Below, you’ll find just shy of 20 minutes of us talking about the madness that is planning international networks in the time of COVID.

Patrick sounded more bullish than I expected, and that was certainly comforting to hear. But of course, it’s all just best guesses at this point since this industry is in uncharted territory.

  1. Thanks for asking about cargo and the interplay between cargo and passenger revenues.

“Cargo helps de-risk flights” is a succinct (albeit slightly clumsy) way to put it, as strong cargo demand and prices help flights earn money even if the passenger cabin isn’t very full.
