BWIA Gets a Replacement

BWIA

It’s unclear if the soap opera is now over or if it’s just beginning.

Effective Jan 1, BWIA will be replaced by Caribbean Airlines. What’s going to change? Well, not much. This is basically a very complicated way to get labor concessions for the airline.

There has been a long history of labor problems at BWIA, and according to management, the unions have been unwilling to give concessions to make the airline competitive. The unions say, on the other hand, that it’s not their fault.

Basically, the new Caribbean Airlines is BWIA without the labor. They will offer lower wages and those who wish to apply from the old airline may do so. Other than that, we can expect to see some strategic changes, but management will be the same.
