Doug Parker and friends are doing a great job of churning out planes for spotters to enjoy. The original plan was to simply have four heritage schemes at the new US Airways. Each one was to celebrate four of the previous airlines that came together to form the current US Airways.
First there was the obvious America West plane. They just slapped on US Airways titles over the existing colors. Then they added the PSA plane. West coast people know and love that orange and red with a big black smile up front. Then they added Piedmont for the southerners and Allegheny for those up north.
That was supposed to be it, as far as I heard, but now they’ve gone done a retro America West livery, the one they used from birth in 1983 until 1996. Click here to see Jeremy Irish’s excellent shot of this bird getting ready for its first flight.
