I promised it was coming, and that day has come. I’m pleased to present the 15-minute version of the 2024 Cranky Network Awards presented by Oakland International Airport.
Network planning teams from around the US and Canada descended on Oakland on February 22 this year so we could hand out the awards for the best in network planning. As long-time readers know, we decided not to stream it this year and instead put together a professionally-produced shortened version. Here it is.
This, of course, is only a part of what actually happened. You’re missing plenty of jokes, longer versions of acceptance speeches, and much, much more. The best way to experience this is live in person.
I’d love to hear if you like the video recap or not, but I’m pretty sure we aren’t going back to the livestream. It just makes the event so much better to cater only to those in the room.
Next year, we’re back in Phoenix on February 27.

Will you be broadcasting the awards live next year as you did the last two years? Would love to see the whole event as it unfolds including any bloopers that occur.
SEAN – Unlikely. As I said at the bottom of the post, “…I’m pretty sure we aren’t going back to the livestream. It just makes the event so much better to cater only to those in the room.”
Sorry Brett, I was in a hurry & missed your bottom remarks as I was posting this morning. Good show though.
Unless the live stream numbers were massive or if provided an additional income stream, prioritize the live audience. This recap suits those of us not in attendance much more than a live stream anyway. Just my 0.02, of course.
At Least JetBlue didn’r ax the “Sexiest New Route, Short Haul” – yet.
Where can we see what the categories were and who the winners are?

Thanks- I guess I missed it!
“Contrary to rumours American still has a hub in Chicago?
That joke killed me, especially with the America West branding lmao
Porter should have won the Improved Network award
