At Pittsburgh Airport, $1.1 B Plan Aims for Efficiency – Icons of Infrastructure
In my latest for Icons of Infrastructre, I took a look at the coming Pittsburgh airport renovation. It’s a big change with the existing landside building and train being scrapped in favor of something new on the inside of the airside building. Even though design work hasn’t been done, airlines have already started moving to get out of the way.

Are more fees on the horizon? Probably not. There’s a better chance that airlines will simply do a better job of matching price to willingness to pay to increase revenue instead of adding on fees for things that have no fees today.

Great article on PIT! I’ve wondered about this airport, and your pieces on its transformation have me intrigued, even more so now that Alaska started nonstop SEA-PIT service. I keep hearing that Pittsburgh is a vastly underrated town and worth a visit, so with a new airport design, and nonstop service on a good airline from Seattle, I may have to check it out.
