Topic of the Week: My 2,000th Post and a Look Back

Admin

It took more than 6 years to get here, but this post is my 2,000th. And on those 2,000 posts, you’ve left more than 33,333 comments. That’s a lot of words. So I thought I would look back at some of the things I blogged about during that first month in August 2006. Posts were more frequent and a lot shorter back then.

It’s fun to look back on the first 2,000 posts. If you all keep reading, I look forward to 2,000 more.

  1. And I’m sure we all thank you. Love this blog and check it first thing every morning. It’s informative, it’s entertaining, it’s written well and it’s accurate. And it extends to Twitter.
Keep up the great work Brett!

  2. Congrats on 2000 posts! It is amazing to see how the industry has changed in only 6 years. Less carry on in 2006?? Maxjet to Vegas?? These almost seem laughable today.

  3. I don’t remember the UA SAT thing at all, it must have really been short lived or a secret….lol

33,333 comments left and you know about half was just about Family Airlines…lol

    Here’s to another 2,000 blogs

  4. Congratulations Brett! Vegas was MAXjet’s best performing route and probably the craziest Launch Party you can imagine.

  5. Boy, that sure was a lot of …, I mean a lot of enjoyment. I think @BrianKal just about put it just right! Keep up the good work.

  6. I’m going to echo everyone here. Congratulations, Brett, and thank you for entertaining and insightful reporting. I really appreciate the work you do.

  7. I remember the liquid ban era, followed by the early 3-1-1 era. Both were pretty good in terms of cleaning up the cabin environment because of fewer overhead bins. It was more pleasant. I still have a can of shave gel at my brother’s apartment from that time.

The cabin returned to it’s state of chaos in May 2008 when American began charging for the first checked bag, becoming the first legacy airline to do so. The change was, unfortunately, quickly copied by nearly everyone else.

  8. My wife is a flight attendant and we read your email religiously! You are so informative and interesting! You break news sometimes before wife knows something! Look forward to many more emails with the most interesting spin on aviation news around! Congrats!
