loads now days are in the 90% …or higher… travel will be more comfortable if it goes back down to the 50-60% range like it was in the 60′s-early 80′s…no lines for the lav…room to stretch…un-used bin space….

  2. Have to admit I’m not getting this EU Emissions thing.

    • Jim says:

What part of it do you not get? Emissions go into the atmosphere and cause certain problems. Therefore, by imposing a cost, the EU is trying to reduce emissions.

If you accept the US airlines’ argument that they don’t have to pay the tax because they aren’t based in the EU, then by the same logic, European airlines don’t have to pay the September 11 security fee imposed by the US government.

      • Fred says:

But the security fee is strictly per passenger to cover costs, while the EU taxes are per flight and don’t cover any costs. They essentially end up as pure profit for the EU.

        • Jim says:

That’s an internal political issue for the EU to figure out. There is no rule that says that taxes can only be imposed to cover costs.

    • Jimmbbo says:

Not surprising, ‘cuz there’s nothing to get…

There is no scientific proof than any CO2 emission anywhere has any impact on anything except to generate revenue for a bankrupt European “community”

  3. That just figures…. the minute I decide I’m going to stop flying our own plane and fly in a human mailing tube they announce rate increases. That figures. Well, I guess we have to contribute to aviation somehow :P
