It is very refreshing to see an airline, especially from Hispanic America, aggressively making a move onto the North American market. With the damage the economic crisis has inflicted on the world wide airline industry this is good news indeed. Perhaps another sign that things are starting to turn around. LAN is a very good airline. A very important and valuable link in Hispanic America and from there to the world. I wish them good luck on the new route!

Cusco is very nice and all (saying that from personal experience), and there are plenty of other sites in the Sacred Valley, but quite frankly the airfares would have to be VERY low for me to consider going down there right now and skipping Machu Picchu. I guess having been there once, I might actually be will to that, but first-time visitors? Doubtful.

First that 'Across the Aisle' photo is funny. The man is smoking and it looks like the woman is trying to lean as far away as she can....lol

Second it sounds more like LAN is wanting passenger and cargo connections more from SFO then just flying local traffic to/from South America. More like they want a connecting point for Asia and by using the two big Asia gateways of LAX and SFO it could help them very much. And if JAL stays in business and remains with Oneworld that would also be a big plus for Asia traffic. Or are they planning on jumping ship to Star Alliance and connecting up with NH and UA's SFO Pacific hub?
