Joe - It's a great question but unfortunately it's not an easy one to answer. You're in a city that's less than 100 miles away from other airports with greater service, so it can be hard to attract more service to your airport. But the best way to get more service is to use what you've got. If the flights are profitable and successful, then airlines will look at adding more flights and new airlines might look at coming as well. But it's going to be an uphill battle in a time like this. Supporting your existing service and of course, keeping airport costs low, is the best thing you can do. If there is a unique reason that service to another city from yours will work, then getting the information on why that might work to the airline is important and that's the job of your airport to make sure that the airlines are adequately informed.

Hi Cranky:

I live near a small airport (Williamsport, PA) (IPT).. We have only one airline (USAirways Express) which goes to only one destination (PHL) three times a day. Last year they they were going to pull out and requested EAS funds. They lost the EAS bidding but when fuel prices dropped decided to remain with limited service, We lose passengers to Stae College (SCE), Wilkes Barre (AVP) and Harrisburg (MDT). Since you were in the Airline Biz to you have any suggestions for smaller airports like ours to retain or attract new service in times like these? Thanks and keep up the good work!

I won't have summaries of every panel, but I will have the ones that I found interesting either here or on BNET. I have a <a href="http://industry.bnet.com/travel/10001373/phoenix-aviation-symposium-tackles-foreign-ownership-of-us-airlines/" rel="nofollow">piece on International Issues</a> over there today.
