You take a few of the most expensive travel sites and then argue which will give you the best rate. Go figure! For one thing the airlines only works within a small parameter of profits, and if you really want to save money it has nothing to do with which company you buy from but rather WHEN and HOW you buy. A flight at 1pm will generally cost much more then a flight at 10pm, simple supply and demand. Were those flights purchased 2 weeks before or 3 weeks, or on a Wednesday or a Friday. Its these type of parameters that start to save money to the tune of hundreds of dollars sometimes.

I cannot see this feature. Is this because I am accessing the site from outside the US...or has it been quietly removed?

I got a better price on Trip Advisor than on Kayak for a trip from DTW to PHX. Both listed the same airline but there was a price difference Now if they would just include car rentals and hotels they would have a complete site for the traveler

Ok, I'm a big enough man to admit I was wrong. I redid it - Continental was exclusive of fees, and TA was inclusive. It was the same. Apologies.

AN - That is certainly not a good result. When I searched, I found the lowest fares were being displayed, but it's really just a crapshoot. That's why it's always good to check a couple of sites before booking just in case. If you want to give full details of what you found (dates, times, etc), I'd like to run the query to see what's happening.

What am I missing? Using TripAdvisor, a Continental roundtrip from EWR to IAD in april is 119. On the airline's site, the same dates and times is 98. Both exclusive of fees. Does TripAdvosor do something other than scan the websites? Why use it if it isn't the cheapest?
