Regarding “Delta Decision to Add First Bag Fee”: I found the following quote from Delta’s Steve Gorman a bit strange: “The increase in bags being carried on board Delta aircraft this year tells us that customers are not differentiating Delta as the only major airline not charging for a first checked bag”. I would think that the increase in bags shows that customers *are* differentiating — more passengers with bags go to Delta, while passengers without bags leave it.

    I guess what Gorman meant to say was that differentiation doesn’t pay. Or at least that the payoff is not enough to justify going against the herd.
