I find it interesting that BA is so stuck on EWR / JFK for this side of the pond. If this journey is all about saving time on the ground, and reducing the unpredictable nature of getting to / from the airport - then neither JFK or EWR are good options.

Yes, they make a good point about the heavy frequencies in case of mechanical disruption as to keeping the flights at either EWR or JFK. But I'm not sold on it. Having done the PrivatAir flight from EWR to FRA, I'm not going to go out of my way to fly a "domestic" aircraft across the Atlantic again without some sort of real benefit. I fail to see that benefit (time, convenience, service) with this a318 option.

it would have been more better to stay at Halifax where they could do full preclearance. after the preclearence they could go else where.

Halifax is still pretty far ~2900 miles. (i.e., requires a lot of fuel making the aircraft quite heavy--doubtful the A318 can take off from LCY). I would imagine that making the first westbound hop is a short one to Ireland is the best option... hey, if there's not much benefit from preclearance, it may even be something like Cardiff for that matter (do not need to get up too high to get there, and a runway will not have any limitations).

If they have to stop westbound, it'd make far more sense to stop in Halifax where they could do full preclearance. Then they could go to any of JFK, LGA, or EWR.

BA doesn't have any other operations at YHZ that I can see, but their pals at AA do, so there'd be some alternatives to get people to and from NYC.
